Merlee’s Place is an adorable cottage. It is cute, very clean and we loved the location! We also loved that the house is historic on the outside, but nicely renovated inside. We enjoyed coffee on the porch. Great place for reading and people watching. Love the neighbors. The home is across the street from the famous Vernon’s Grocery, around the corner from the coffee shop, Wine Down Sip Sip and several restaurants. The caretakers are so kind. He met us at the dock. Check in was easy. The owners went above and beyond for our enjoyment. My husband loves to watch sports. The owners called the cable company and added ESPN just for us!!! That’s excellent service. We will definitely return to Hopetown and Merlee’s Place!

Jan 30, 2017-We LOVED this house. It’s decorated with love, unlike corporately owned rentals. It’s clean and cute and functional. The family room is comfortable with chairs and sofa facing each other (and a big nice TV on one wall), so it’s great for socializing or reading privately. We loved the location, right in the middle of peaceful, quaint, wonderful Hope Town. You can’t find a lovelier destination in the Bahamas, in our opinion. Very friendly locals, lovely water and sand, charming homes, colors, flowers. Also, noteworthy, we didn’t feel the need for a golf cart like most visitors, not at all. We just walked. Be aware that the island is short on water (very little rain), so no laundry facilities in the home. I’m not sure what folks do who stay longer, but we managed. There may be a laundromat a short walk away. The house slept 5 perfectly, with 3 children in the cute upstairs. It could sleep 4 or even 5 upstairs, too; (but be aware that the upstairs space is open and shared). The neighbors were super friendly and have lived on the island for many (9?) generations in that house!! We’d choose Merlee’s again without looking at other options. It was perfect.
